“You don’t truly understand freedom until you ride with the wind in your face and your tribe at your side.”

Just over a year ago, I made a decision that would change everything. I wasn’t looking for anything extraordinary—just a bike and a bit of adventure. What I found was a lifestyle, a brotherhood, and a year full of stories that I’ll carry with me for life.

This is the story of my journey with RECN—Royal Enfield Community Network—and my beloved SM 650.

It All Started with a Text Message

One sunny Sunday morning, I walked into the Royal Enfield store to book my dream machine—the SM 650. Fate had other plans. Right before I left home, I got a message from RE asking me to visit and collect the bike—it was ready. Just like that.

That morning, I fired up the engine for the first time. The thump of the motor was more than just sound—it was a call. Without second thoughts, I rode straight to my village. I was on cloud nine, but a few days in, something felt... off.

The rides were thrilling, but it lacked something deeper. Connection. Purpose. A tribe.

Enter RECN

One quick Google search later, I found RECN. I dropped a message, showed up for one of their rides—and boom. That’s all it took.

From the very first interaction, I felt at home. These weren’t just random bikers—they were passionate, disciplined, and incredibly welcoming. The leadership team, including Ishaan, the reigning ROY (Rider of the Year) for two consecutive years, along with their squad of experienced marshals, made it their mission to guide new riders like me.

They weren’t just about fuel and throttle—they were about the culture of motorcycling. Maintenance tips, safety briefings, riding etiquette—RECN ensured that every member grew not just as a rider, but as a responsible road citizen.

The Rides That Changed Me

If you ask me what the soul of RECN is—it’s the rides.

Every month, we set out on a new adventure. Some were short breakfast rides on peaceful highways, others were intense multi-day expeditions through challenging terrains. From misty hills to sun-baked deserts, every ride tested and taught me something new.

The SM 650 became more than just a motorcycle—it became my partner in exploration, in growth, and in pushing limits.

And yes, there were tough moments. Sore muscles, uncertain roads, mechanical hiccups. But those moments? They turned into stories. Stories that I’ll retell for years.

The Highlights? Too Many to Count.

But if I had to pick one—the expeditions.

The planning, the anticipation, the moment we rolled out as a group—it was electric. Imagine 20+ motorcycles, moving like one unit, carving through landscapes most people only see in travel brochures. Then ending the day with bonfires, laughter, and tales under the stars.

That’s what RECN gave me: a sense of belonging. A feeling that no matter where we went, I wasn’t alone.

More Than Just Riding

RECN taught me so much more than how to corner better or when to downshift.

It taught me:

  • Discipline — because group rides demand timing and structure.

  • Resilience — because the road doesn’t always care about your plans.

  • Brotherhood — because support came unasked, unspoken, and unconditionally.

I met people from different walks of life—entrepreneurs, doctors, students, retirees—all united by a love for motorcycles. Over the year, these strangers turned into family.

What’s Next?

More roads. More rides. More learning.

This one year has ignited something in me. I’m no longer riding just for fun—I’m riding for growth, for connection, and for that ever-elusive feeling of freedom.

There are many milestones ahead. I’m excited to hit the trails, break new records, and maybe even help a new rider discover what I did—a home on two wheels.

Thinking of Joining a Riding Club?

Do it.

It’s not just about bikes. It’s about pushing yourself, making lifelong friendships, and collecting memories you’ll smile about decades from now.

Whether you ride a Himalayan, Classic, Interceptor, or an SM 650—there’s a place for you in the community. And trust me, once you ride with a tribe that matches your spirit, there’s no going back.

Thanks for reading.
Until next time—ride safe, ride far. ✌🏼🏍️
